Rubber Safety Surfacing Added To Concrete Services

C and M Concrete, a St. Louis-area concrete contractor that specializes in traditional and architectural/stamped concrete surfaces, is carving out a new niche in the installation of custom-designed rubber safety surfaces.

For the past 25 years, owner Matt Sadl has specialized in all types of concrete services. He expanded his sole proprietorship and established C and M Concrete in 2009. This year, the company is debuting a new division that focuses on the installation of rubber safety surfaces.

C and M is the sole distributor of a specialized “poured in place” polymer resin and granular rubber composite material called Rubaroc®. The rubber material, initially available in Canada and then spreading across the United States and worldwide, is installed much like concrete, by professionally hand-troweling over the top of existing concrete, tile or wood surfaces. Installers are fully trained and certified to handle the specialty material.

Because the rubberized surface provides high traction and is slip-resistant and comfortable, these safety coatings can be used in both residential and commercial settings. The material also can be flowed to create custom logos or images in a wide variety of colors.

“With these rubber safety surfaces, we can create beautiful works of art directly into a flooring surface through the use of custom designs or color,” says Matt Sadl, owner of C and M Concrete. “It really is the fusion of strength, beauty and safety to use these coatings in a variety of settings.”

Common uses for rubber safety surfaces include:
• Pool decks
• Spas
• Steps
• Porches
• Walkways
• Driveways
• Garage or Basement interiors
• Patios
• Retail floors
• Playgrounds and Water Parks
• Childcare facilities
• Country Clubs
• Hotels

“Many of these settings also could be candidates for aggregate or stamped concrete,” says Sadl. “We handle both concrete and rubber surface material, so we can help guide customers on the benefits of each in whatever setting is being considered.”

C and M has the distributorship for Rubaroc® for the entire state of Missouri and parts of southern Illinois.

Says Sadl, “We encourage prospective customers to visit our website to see the services we offer and to see how the rubber safety surface, in particular, is installed.”
